Market Flat but Stem Cells Mostly Up on Friday 4.17.09
Thursday 4.15.09: Dow +96 (1.2%)@8125, S&P +13 (1.5%)@865, Nasdaq +44 (2.7%)@1670
The market was again flat most of the day, gave up gains to finish barely up. However, 23 stem cell stocks were up with only 8 down. DNDN managed to go up over 5% today, so it appears that 17 may be an interim support level, as it failed to fall below that on any close since its runup. Still, not much volume or real action today.
Big Winners: AFFX 4.2%, AVII +4.4%, DNDN 5.6%, EPIX 6.2% (two days in a row!), OPXA +14.3% (also 2 in a row), OSTE 7%, SQNM 5.1%
(most of these seem to be down one day, up the next and can't put two up days together, hence my surprise...)
Biggest Drops (mostly fractional): CRIS -1.5%, GERN 1.6%, LMNX 1.9%
Volume Up: ABT, AFFX (2x), CYTX, DNDN (4x)
The 'pure' stem cell plays were mostly flat or down again.
Disclosure: Long QLD (Nasdaq), TNA (R2000).
